Garnet in Wollastonite Obelisk

It is not a single mineral, but a group of minerals with similar crystal structures, including almandine, pyrope, spessartine, grossular, and ugrandite. Wollastonite is a calcium inosilicate mineral that forms when limestone is metamorphosed in the presence of silica. Garnet in Wollastonite can form when hot, chemically active fluids alter carbonate-rich rocks. These pieces are polished into an obelisk shape.
