Snowflake Fluorite has the brilliant color of rainbow fluorite with splashed of white sunburst resembling snowflakes.
This piece is an excellent example of the snowflake burst on the side. It is polished on three sides with one rough side.
Fluorite (also called fluorspar) is a calcium fluoride that belongs to the halide minerals. It commonly has a cubic structure but can occasionally form in octahedrals. With a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale, a clear transparency, and color ranging from purple, green, yellow, blue and red. Fluorite has a unique feature of frequently being fluorescent and is often associated with other attractive minerals like galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, barite, sphalerite, calcite, and quartz.
