Brazilian Smokey Quartz B

Smoky Quartz is a brownish-grey to almost black translucent variety of quartz. The color is attributed to natural radiation that activates color centers around aluminum impurities within the quartz crystal lattice. This quartz is usually found in intrusive igneous and certain high grade metamorphic rocks, like granite and orthogneiss.
