Sunstone with Apatite Obelisk

Sunstone is a variety of microcline or oligoclase feldspar. Inclusions of copper, hematite, or goethite gives the stone a glitter-like appearance. Its Mohs hardness is 6-6.5. This stone also contains apatite which is a phosphate mineral with a hexagonal crystal structure and hardness of 5 on the Mohs scale. It can be colorless, white, tan, brown, gray, or black, but more commonly green or blue. It forms with quartz, calcite, albite, muscovite, and fluorite. These pieces are polished into an obelisk shape.
